HELPING TEACHERS INSPIRE COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS, PEOPLE & THE ENVIRONMENT
When Cindy, a young woman with Down syndrome, finds a puppy amid the garbage, she brings him home and takes her to the hospice where she works. When told she can’t keep a dog, Smudge ends up at an animal shelter – though not for long. This book gently raises many discussion points about the responsibilities of pet ownership and attitudes toward people with disabilities.
