Rivers to Oceans Week
June 8, 2016 - June 14, 2016
Rivers to Oceans Week reminds us that safeguarding the health of all water flowing through our watersheds — local springs, creeks, streams, lakes, rivers, wetlands and even groundwater —also improves the quality of Canada’s oceans. It’s an activity in which everyone may play a role regardless of where they live. When you think about it, improvements start in your own backyard. Since 2007, Rivers to Oceans Week has been celebrated to join Oceans Day (June 8, declared in 1992 at the UN Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro) and Canadian Rivers Day (celebrated since 2003 on the second Sunday in June) with themes central to Canada’s watersheds.
