HELPING TEACHERS INSPIRE COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS, PEOPLE & THE ENVIRONMENT

Classroom Resources

Jennifer

My name is Jennifer, and I am originally from Victoria BC, but I have lived in Lethbridge for 36 years. I travel and do research, and have lived in lots of places so from ‘the planet’ too. I grew up near the seashore and loved to explore the intertidal. That’s where my fascination with sea animals started. I collected shells as a kid.

I am a scientist and a teacher. I study octopuses in the field if I can, (Hawaii, Bermuda, Bonaire, Okinawa, Saanich inlet BC, Moorea) or in the lab with my collaborator at the Seattle Aquarium. I like octopuses, of course, and we had several dogs growing. I’m a bird watcher. It is important to watch, listen, see what the animals are doing by observing them. They are our fellow inhabitants of the planet.
