Westmount School, Okotoks

Mrs. Mayer’s Grade One Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the stories and were able to easily related to the animals in the stories and the situations they were in. Discussions after each book often extended to the students’ personal experiences and how they felt.   Great job, Grade 1!

Mrs. Mathews’ Grade Five Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the books and the discussions and activities that followed each one!   Good job, Grade 5!

Vista Heights School, Calgary

Mr. Pivarnyik’s Grade Three Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed each story and the activities and discussions that followed each one. The students also wrote a persuasive writing piece after watching the ‘I Want a Dog’ video online.   Fantastic job, Grade 3!

J.C. Charyk School, Hanna

Mrs. Hudgeon’s Grade Four Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed each book and the discussions and activities that followed. The discussions after reading the books connected the characters to the students’ own experiences and also led to the differences in thinking in rural and urban settings.   Way to go, Grade 4!

Holy Cross Catholic School, Grande Prairie

Mrs. Sutton’s Grade Two Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the stories and had lively discussions after reading each one. The students demonstrated empathy by looking at things/assumptions from a different perspective (i.e. an ant).   Great work, Grade 2!

Arrowwood School, Arrowwood

Miss Williams’ Grade Five Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The books were a great launching point for the start of each lesson. The students had thoughtful discussions after reading each story, and they enjoyed the activities.   Bravo, Grade 5!    

Eldorado Elementary School, Drayton Valley

Mrs. Flett’s Grade One Class participated in the AnimalTales program. Many of the students were able to relate their experience of visiting their community’s local animal shelter to the books, and shared their experience during the class discussions. Students made a lot of personal connections to all the stories!   Great job, Grade 1!

St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary/Junior High Catholic School, Edmonton

Ms. Bruseker’s Grade Four Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the class discussions after each story and were able to take what they learned and apply it to their journal reflections. The program fit in nicely with their Kindness Month, in February.   Good job, Grade 4!

New Myrnam School, Myrnam

Mrs. Godziuk’s Grade Two Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed reading each story and the discussion and activities (written responses) that followed each book. The program was used in conjunction with their daily good character lessons; a natural fit!   Fantastic job, Grade 2!
