Be Kind to Animals Week is the oldest commemorative week in the United States, and is the longest-running humane education campaign. Being kind to animals is more than just providing food, water, and shelter. Part of being kind to animals is ensuring their physical and emotional needs are being met. The more we know about animals, the more willing and able we are to provide appropriate care. Domestic animals, both pets and farm animals, depend on people to help meet these needs. Use this week to discuss The Five Needs of Animals with your students. For additional information visit the American Humane website,
