HELPING TEACHERS INSPIRE COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS, PEOPLE & THE ENVIRONMENT

Kindness Map

Erskine Colony School, Erskine

Mrs. Guba’s Grade Two Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the stories and the activities and discussions that followed each one. After reading The Bug Girl, students were paired up and chose a bug to research. They loved this project and learned many fascinating facts! After reading Not Norman, students filled in their “Thought Bubbles for Norman” activity sheet and many students shared that they have pet fish!

Along with Not Norman, Max Talks to Me and Kamik an Inuit Puppy Story all elicited discussions on what animals need and how they should be cared for. Students also learned that training dogs, especially puppies, needs a lot of patience and consistency. Students also played the “Which Animal Would You Adopt?” game and came up with some really thoughtful answers to the benefits and challenges of adopting certain pets.

Fantastic job, students!
