Helping teachers inspire compassion for animals, people & the environment

Livingstone School, Lundreck

Mrs. Hochstein’s Grade 3 Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the books and the discussions after each book. A Kindness Tree was also made, where student’s acknowledged acts of kindness they witnessed in the classroom! The students even wrote letters of empathy!   Good job, Grade 3!

Simons Valley School, Calgary

Mrs. Webb’s Kindergarten Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the stories and the class discussion that happened after each one! Students were able to identify the responsibility involved in caring for other living things, such as plants and caterpillars!   Way to go, Kinders!

Saint Rita School, Calgary

Mrs. Steward’s Kindergarten Class participated in the AnimalTales program. Students learned that animals have the same needs and rights that people do. The students enjoyed relating themes and ideas found in the books to things that happened in their classroom!   Great job Kinders!

Ralston School, Ralston

Ms. Sulz’s Grade Four Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed reading the stories and the discussion around responsible pet ownership that followed.   Good work Grade 4!

Maryview School, Red Deer

Mrs. Swanson’s Grade Five Class completed the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed hearing each story during each week’s read aloud, and great discussions followed. Students shared many personal connections to each story and included what they learned/discussed in their journal entries!   Great job Grade 5!

Connections for Learning, Stony Plain

Mrs. Moisan’s Grade One Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the stories and the activities and discussion that followed. The discussion topics ranged from how and why animals end up in animal shelters to responsible pet ownership, relating everything back to personal experience.   Bravo Grade 1!

Keenooshayo Elementary School, St. Albert

Ms. Wilson’s Grade One Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed reading the stories and the rich discussions that followed. Students connected the program to current events by making thank you cards to send to veterinarians in Australia, who are helping those animals impacted by the wildfires.   Way to go, Grade 1!

École Campbelltown, Sherwood Park

Mrs. Lambert’s Grade Two Class participated in the AnimalTales program. The students enjoyed the books, especially Hey Little Ant!, and the conversations that followed. Students demonstrated empathy by critically thinking about if it is ethical/kind to stomp on an ant. Students reflected thoughtfully about their answers.   Bravo Grade 2!
