Class Action projects can be a perfect opportunity to engage your students in service learning. Service learning projects can provide students with an array of skills such as goal setting, working cooperatively along with leadership, critical thinking, and problem solving. It also helps students improve their self-esteem as they learn the value of working together to help others. Teachers benefit from service learning as well. These projects allow teachers to collaborate with their students, build collegiality with other staff members, and promote school pride. These projects can also be a means to reach students who have difficulty with the standard curriculum.

Communities also gain from service learning. Projects help build and strengthen ties between students, the school, and the community.  This can help promote a positive image of young people in the community leading to stronger support for youth and schools.
